Jean-Jacques Goldberg (b. 22 October 1955 - d. 28 December 2006) is an Israeli rock drummer.

BiographyEdit

Goldberg was born in Belgium but when he was young his family moved to the Lohamei HaGeta'ot Kibbutz. During the years 1980 - 1983 he was one of the band members of HaClique along with Dani Dothan, Eli Avramov and Ovad Efrat. After the band went on haitus, he continued to be a drummer and played on albums of various artists such as, Fortisakharof, Berry Sakharof and especially his collaboration with Rami Fortis ("Jean Conflict", among other things). He also played drums on the Berry Sakharof album 11 a. Goldberg was a member of The Refugees - a band accompanied by Ehud Banai.

Goldberg worked with a local band, Ur Kasdim and with Jean Conflict, Yael Levy, Sivan Shavit, Brothers and Sisters and more.

In 1991 Goldberg went to live in Marseilles in France with his wife and two sons, and worked with diamonds there, but continued to drum in a number of live gigs, recording the album "On Guard" with Fortisakharof. Goldberg was also going to play at the gigs that accompanied the departure album, but shortly after he returned to France because of his health conditions. Jean-Jacques Goldberg died of cancer in Marseilles on 28th December 2006. He was buried at the cemetery at Lohamei HaGeta'ot Kibbutz on the 4th January 2007 (his father still lives there).

Established in 2009, Rami Fortis and Ehud Banai have set up an association in memory of Jean-Jacques Goldberg to support youth culture and art. [1] [2]
